Safe Harbor is a Christian boarding school in Jacksonville, Florida with over 25 years of success in producing men of character, integrity, and vision. While we are located in Florida, we accept and provide education to boys from Oregon.
Safe Harbor turns wayward teenage boys into mature and responsible young men. Boys who find help at Safe Harbor may be dealing with depression, defiance, behavioral and school failure, minor drug use or trouble with the law, or the upheaval of a loss in their life. Frequently, teens who are struggling need to see a less narrow view of the world, one not so fixated on themselves or keeping up with their peers.
Though you may be searching for a Christian boarding school in Oregon, please consider that the Safe Harbor maritime experience combined with the personal attention, counsel and training give an unmatched setting for growth and change in behavior.
Safe Harbor boarding school teaches maritime skills and seamanship, offers practical life skills, and promotes character in the context of vocational training, all while boys study for their high school diplomas. The boys (many have come from Oregon) reside on board boats at this waterfront boarding school. They gain mastery in boating on the ocean and rivers while learning respect for self and others, self-reliance, perseverance, and much more. Each boy who successfully completes Safe Harbor learns to captain his own vessel, both literally and figuratively.

Classes run year-round, giving students a chance to catch up wherever they may have fallen behind academically. Boys who graduate Safe Harbor receive a high school diploma, and many go on to two-year and four-year colleges.
At Safe Harbor, practical knowledge means as much as academic knowledge. Besides all aspects of boating and seamanship, we provide vocational training in several topics, like carpentry, boat refurbishing, navigation, log keeping and map reading, welding, boat maintenance and repair, and basic electrical skills.
We also think boys should be capable in basic life skills. Residents of Safe Harbor are taught to balance a checkbook and handle credit responsibly, find employment using appropriate resume and interview skills, understand basic nutrition, and handle laundry and housekeeping tasks, to name just a handful of the topics we cover. Our goal is to make your boy respectful, self-reliant, confident, and competent.

|More about Christian boarding schools in Oregon:
Oregon is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. It is located on the Pacific coast, with Washington to the north, California to the south, Nevada on the southeast and Idaho to the east. The Columbia and Snake rivers delineate much of Oregon’s northern and eastern boundaries, respectively. The area was inhabited by many indigenous tribes before the arrival of traders, explorers, and settlers who formed an autonomous government in Oregon Country in 1843. The Oregon Territory was created in 1848, and Oregon became the 33rd state on February 14, 1859.
Oregon is the 9th most extensive and the 27th most populous of the 50 United States. Salem is the state’s capital and third-most-populous city; Portland is the most populous. Portland is the 29th-largest U.S. city, with a population of 583,776 (2010 US Census) and a metro population of 2,241,841 (2009 estimate), the 23rd-largest U.S. metro area. The valley of the Willamette River in western Oregon is the state’s most densely populated area and is home to eight of the ten most populous cities.
Oregon contains a diverse landscape including the windswept Pacific coastline, the volcanoes of the rugged and glaciated Cascade Mountain Range, many waterfalls (including Multnomah Falls), dense evergreen forests, mixed forests and deciduous forests at lower elevations, and high desert across much of the eastern portion of the state, extending into the Great Basin. The tall Douglas firs and redwoods along the rainy Western Oregon coast contrast with the lower density and fire prone pine tree and juniper forests covering portions of the eastern half of the state. Alder trees are common in the west and fix nitrogen for the conifers and aspen groves are common in eastern Oregon. Stretching east from Central Oregon, the state also includes semi-arid shrublands, prairies, deserts, steppes, and meadows. Mount Hood is the highest point in the state at 11,249 feet (3,429 m). Crater Lake National Park is the only national park in Oregon.
